ORATIA COMMUNITY RELIEVED BY WATERCARE DECISION

It is with great relief that we bring you the news that the Watercare Board has decided not to build its water treatment plant in Oratia. We are thankful that Watercare has recognised the extreme social impact that a decision to build in Parker Road would have had. We are incredibly proud of our community… Continue Reading

Graeme Gash

As I look back over the last four months I feel a sense of deep pride at the way the community of Oratia has risen so heroically to our defence. It is tinged somewhat with trepidation. Because Watercare are, of course, maintaining their game-face right to the end, no doubt resolute in their determination to… Continue Reading

My name is Danielle Latham and this is my story

I do not live in Parker Road, nor have I ever lived in Parker Road. I did however grow up just across the valley in Rimu Road and at 17 years I left Oratia. Oratia was and still is one of those communities that as a rebellious teenager I did not want to live in.… Continue Reading

Welcome to my home

My name is Teal Williams.

I am unfortunately one of the many children, and a member of one of the many lovely families that could possibly be affected by the water treatment plant. Watercare, why did you choose such beautiful place where kids run barefoot freely from house to house, garden to garden, treehut to treehut, bush to bush, and… Continue Reading

Hi Oratia! I'm not sure where to post this as we don't have a community group... so thought I'd post here (Hope this is okay admin!) I'm in need of a shed/warehouse/covered area for approx 1-3 months to get started on our Tiny trailer House build. It needs to be quite a high space of 5 meters. I can pay $250/week for rent. PLEASE PM me if you know of anything. In this weather I really don't want to build outside and the workshop I will be using in the future is not ready! *Help* Thank you! ... See MoreSee Less
